Merry Christmas everyone!
I know I am really bad!I didn't mean for such a long time to go by between updates but life kinda stepped in and took over.
Jenna is doing wonderfully! She is over a year and a half post transplant.
We recently had her exam in the city and they say she looks better than any transplant patient they have seen. They were extremely happy with her.I was pretty worried when we got her engraftment studies back. They said 97% engraftment and we were used to hearing 99% or 100% so it scared me, but there is a margin of error and they ran the test differently than before and Dr Cowan said it was nothing to worry about,so I guess we wont.
Our house is coming along and we hope to be in it in the next few months, hopefully. It has been a really long summer.
Jenna started pre school in the fall and is just advancing in leaps and bounds. She will turn 3 in January and start speech and developemental therapy through the school system but we are still going to keep her in her preschool also. She has done speech and developmental therapy through the regional center here but just sending her to school 2 days a week for 3 hours a day seems to work better.
Jenna now has eyeglasses for farsightedness(she was going crosseyed)and she wears them very well. She wears her back brace 4 hours a day,5 days a week and the ortho doc thinks the kyphosis is improving, which is great. She now also has foot braces she wears in her shoes as well but unbelievably all this really doesn't seem to bother her too much.
We had christmas 4 times this past week with all the different sides of our families and boy was Jenna into it.We had so much fun with her this year.Last Christmas was spent in the hospital removing her central line and trying to get rid of a serious infection so we really appreciated this Christmas.
Jenna would sit on the presents under the tree and cross her hands in prayer position and say "peeese my prize"which meant can I open my gifts. It was adorable.
She is so adorable and easy to love. She insists on trying to fight with Lindsay all of the time but Lindsay is 13 and it really doesnt work,I guess she is just craving some sibiling rivalry!
Well I really will try to get on and update more often I promise.
We hope everyone is well and had Happy Holidays!
Love,
The Watson family
