He's finally here! I felt as though I was pregnant for a good lifetime though in reality it was only 8 months. I have to admit though, it was a long 8 months. Here's a bit of a birth story for you....
I had a drs. appointment on Monday, Oct. 1. Dr. Azuma concluded that I was already very favorable to deliver though I had 4 weeks to go. I went home excited, yet also knowing that being favorable doesn't mean much. Many women walk around dialated and effaced for weeks. Apparently that wasn't to be the story for me. I woke up tuesday morning to a gush of fluid and quickly realized my water broke. I called Mom, called the hospital, and had my friend come over to watch the kids. This all took place at about 5:30 a.m. By the time we arrived at the hospital the contractions began. They were coming very quickly, but relatively weak on the moniter. I lasted for a few hours before I opted for stadal. I was very worn out and tired as I had been the past several weeks so I had a much harder time with pain management then with the other three. I ended up with 2 doses of stadal and still the pain was causing me panic so for the first time I opted for an epidural. It was wonderful! I don't know that I would ever do it again without it. I ended up getting the epidural less than an hour before he was born, but oh, that last hour was bliss. When it came time to deliver, as always, he practically slid out. My mom and John were both there to witness his birth and Doug, Jason, and Kiera followed along afterward. It was a good experience and ended in a healthy baby boy and a relieved mama.

As for William now.... He is 4 weeks old today. On monday he weighed 8 lbs 3 ozs and was 22 inches long. His face is getting a great deal of chub and he seems heavier each day. He is a wonderful nurser and has never had a problem, as you can tell by his growth. :)  He loves to be held while awake and is just starting to make some eye contact with us. He can hold his head up for brief moments and is staying alert for longer periods of time. The bulk of his day is still eating and sleeping. In the night he wakes several times and I am feeling generally sleep deprived. This too shall pass though and we will be onto new struggles! The kids are enjoying him and all like to take turns holding him. He seems to handle their attention well. I suppose, either way he is going to have to get used to their sufficating attentions. Literally for Kiera as she is constantly covering him with blankets and forcibly giving him his pacifier! We all seem to have adjusted well and school is going great.
