WHO I AM
First of all, I created this site because I'm working at getting into the entertainment/music industry and need my own website... in case there was any confusion. [Until I am somewhat "well-known," I think some people may assume I have an obsession with myself. ;) Not the case. ] I also have a profile on a website just for the talent industry, where you can see videos of me performing--not original material, and look at other details about me, as an artist.
                                    The web address is:
http://www.talentmatch.com/jenniferhalliday.

Sites always ask you to describe yourself in a certain number of characters. I doubt it'll ever be possible to do it accurately, and I'm quite surprised at myself for even including this page. But, I'm going to
attempt to give the reader a little bit of background info on me.

My name's Jennifer Halliday. I was born December 9th, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've lived between Las Vegas and Los Angeles my whole life... and am currently residing in LA.

I have a younger brother (technically a half-brother), a mom, dad, and stepdad. I'm married to a great guy, and have two wonderful kids. But I've got a whole other site dedicated to them, so I'll continue on about myself.

I'm addicted to chocolate and coffee, but eat fairly healthy otherwise... except for the occasional chicken nuggets or double double. Hehe.

I've been singing since about the same time I started speaking. I've always been into the arts more so than the sciences. [Instead of studying, I was drawing, painting, sculpting, acting, singing, dancing, cheerleading, whatever. I've also done a bit of photography, martial arts, gymnastics, and modeling. I never was much into the work part of school, just the extra-curricular's.] I'm currently learning to play the guitar and piano, so that I can write my own
music, instead of just lyrics.

I also write poetry, short stories, essays, and have attempted novellas and novels but get bored or side-tracked really easily. I love reading too, but mostly fiction. I especially have an affection for fantasy, horror, some sci-fi, and anything having to do with witches/vampires/werewolves/etc. Though some of my favorite books don't really fit into those categories, most of them do. A few of my favorites are:
DragonLance, Bram Stoker's Dracula, LJ Smith and Christopher Pike books when I was younger, Wuthering Heights, Much Ado About Nothing, The First Wives' Club, HARRY POTTER!, Jurassic Park, Fahrenheit 451, anything John Grisham, White Oleander... you get the point.

One of my favorite writers, though it's tough to get through his stuff, is also responsible for my favorite thought... a quote: "Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." ~ Henry David Thoreau. DUH! For anyone who doesn't get it, let me attempt an explanation. In an overall kind of way, stagnancy, lack of change... is unhealthy. Don't let your pride make you afraid to change your ideas, practices, self, etc. Don't be afraid to be wrong. You can always change. Without change, there can be no growth!!! That's only an opinion. [Thoreau also said, "The heavens are as deep as our aspirations are high." That's another one of my favorites. ...Seeing as how my aspirations, in music specifically, are nearing the astral realm. But I think anything's possible.]

Moving on...

Religion is always such a touchy subject for people. I do believe in God, and converse with Him/Her on a regular basis. I would like to say that I normally don't believe in organized religion... but I was basically raised Catholic on my mom's side and SRF (Self-Realization Fellowship, westernized Hindu and the science of Yoga) by my dad. When I was about 12, I found myself studying Wicca and the earthy spiritualities. Since then, I've studied many different religions/spiritualities/beliefs and still consider myself a Hindu Christian Witch. As a mother, I believe my children should have a spiritual upbringing, with God in their lives. But I don't believe that they should be baptized before they are old enough to know what it means or decide to do it for themselves. I don't believe any religion is right or wrong, but that all are paths to the Creator. If there's any decent way for me to explain my stance on religion, let me just say that one of my most favorite movies is "DOGMA."

On that note, I would also like to add just what a huge film buff I am. I love all movies just for the entertainment value. I don't ever listen to critics. The way I decide whether or not a movie is good is by watching it. Then I look back and think about how many emotions the movie made me run through. The more emotions the movie brought up in me, the better it was. For a while, all anyone could talk about was how awful "Gigli" was. I think a lot of it's negative feedback was caused by the whole 'J Lo and Ben' insanity. For the most part, the movie was really pointless. But I liked it. I ran through a gammut of emotions while watching it, and that's what's important to me. The only movies I don't like are ones made by pop stars who 'think' they can act. And I don't think I have to cite any examples.

Oh! Another touchy subject for people... politics. Let's not even go there. Let's just say I'm moderately liberal.

Anyway, I think I've said about enough. What I haven't covered yet, I'm sure to in the other pages. Thanks for taking the time to read through this babble. And let me know what you think...
