They came to our house as fosters.  They were very healthy at first.  They were growing every day.  And we left for our first anniversary trip to Atlanta.  They all died that weekend.  They got a distemper, and all died that Saturday.  We were crushed.  But, we gave them all we could, and they joined our first fosters, Patches and Sherbet in Animal Heaven.

Patches and Sherbet:

Patches and Sherbet were our first fosters.  Patches was a great mom.  She protected her kittens with all her might.  We learned a great deal about the mother-kitten relationship from her.  Sherbet developed  malformed lungs which prevented him from eating.  He couldn't fight off illness, and he was the first one to go to Animal Heaven.  Patches, perhaps knowing that her second boy, Midnight, is in good hands with us, joined Sherbet later.  She was diagnosed with cancer, and she died at the shelter.  Our only regret is that we don't have many pictures of her.  

Sometimes Patches visit us through Midnight.  He talks like her once in a while, and we know that everyone up there is doing well.

And this is why we call them our 8 Angels.
