This picture is self explanatory.  Water was above the berth rail, before I salvaged her.

I salvaged the foam from berth cushions and put on new upholstery fabric.

Hurricanes did most of it, but I was told by X-owner that he
ran aground on an Oyster bed (lots around here) and messed up the gudgeon/pintal pretty bad.  I repaired.

I took two wheel barrows full of oysters back down to the community pier and dumped them in, after pulling the boat out of the water for the first time in 10 -12 years.

The short history of my boat

by Mark Stipetic

The guy I got it from - his dad bought it about 1973.  He sailed it as a boy in the Pamlico Sound, North Carolina.
It had not moved or been sailed for 10-12 years (in salt water the whole time).
The boat was hit by many hurricanes -"Floyd" and "Fran" were direct hits on it. "Cape Fear" is right here.
Lightning finally sunk the boat. It came down the shrouds and put two holes in port side and one in the starboard side.

Port side, all ground out/down and ready for fiberglass. That is a quarter in the photo for size comparison.

After much thought, I decided to salvage it.  It was free. I estimate I put $750 and 2 years work into it to get it looking and sailing good.
There is no electrical system in it though. So no running lights yet. I'm working on that.

Community-dock:
High Tide and "Retrograde" in her slip where she sits all year. Low tide she sits on mud.  Thank goodness for Twin Keelers or I would not have a sailboat here.  No Ice cause it is Tidal and North Carolina.  Ocean Temp got to a low of ~45°F this winter. Up and down ~3.5 to 5.0 feet every tide. The boat at the end "Pages creek".  The Intracoastal water way is ~ 1.5 miles out of the creek.  Near North Carolina Mile marker 479.  It is about 9 miles South to "Masonboro inlet" and the Atlantic Ocean. Retrograde handles the ocean swells very nicely,  I think (better than some people I have taken out in her).  I have taken her out in some really good swells and pounded the hell out of her to test my fiberglass job. It's good, No leaks.
