| Knitting Socks Math by Jenn If you cast on 66 stitches and knit 12 rows for one inch that makes 792 stitches, add a 7 inch cuff and it is 5,544 stitches that have been knitted. Add a 3 inch heel on 33 stitches, add another 1,188 stitches (396 per inch x 3 inches) I am not going to count the gusset decreases, but add 7,920 stitches for a 10 inch foot. Gasp! 14,652 stitches have been knitted at the very least. The mind scrambles... If I had a hammer and was building a frame house, would I have used the hammer that many times? Good Gracious!! Maybe Cervantes should have known a socknitter... A sock is - a short knitted item based on loonngg length... |
