| Joanna's Stahl Toe for the Numerically Challenged I knit the "Stahl" toe which is one decrease round-3 rounds plain, one decrease round-2 rounds plain TWO TIMES, one decrease round-1 round plain THREE TIMES, decrease every round to 8 and graft. I had terrible trouble keeping my place and at the time, couldn't easily tell by counting rows where I was. I devised the following personal animal method: In "numerically challenged joanna language": Decrease round-three plain dog rounds (lady, oscar and max-a collie and two standard poodles I've lived with). Decrease round-two plain cat rounds (murray and bitsy were the first pair who had us) Decrease round-two more cat rounds (we currently live with miles and manny). And now the humans enter--these next three decrease rounds are separated by "jerry", "matt" and "jessie" Decrease round, Jerry (DH), Decrease round, Matt(DS),Decrease round, Jessie (DD). Decrease every round to desired # of sts (8-10) and graft. There now, I've knit most of my favorite beings into the toe and not lost my place once (plus having warm feelings instead of just counting!) (I can remember which warm body I've just commemorated in my sock, but never the number 1, 2 or 3!!) Posted with gracious permission by Joanna in Minneapolis |
