We Need Our Summer Vacation.
Everybody knows that school makes your life stressful. I cannot even imagine how hard life would be if I had to be stuck in school for the whole year, without a summer vacation. The stress would become so overwhelming that my nerves would skyrocket all the way to the point where I would collapse. I think year around school is too much. Therefore, my point is that we all deserve a summer vacation. I think our lives involve a bit more than just school. For example, we need some time off to spend with our families; to acknowledge the point of "summer", and most importantly to take our mental health into consideration.
Summer vacation is an excellent time to spend with your family and friends. I usually dont get enough time to spend with my family. This is because on weekends, when they get time off from work and are eating at a restaurant, I am at home working on homework. I think that the summer break gives us a chance to forget about homework and to use that time to really spend time with your family. You can go to the beach, or to the movies, or out on a boat to enjoy the summer breeze. These are just a few examples of all of the activities that you and your family can enjoy together. The summer gives you time to learn more about your family. The time spent with them is precious because you learn new things with them every day. For example, if you are eating breakfast at IHOP on a Monday morning, a conversation will pop up about how your family immigrated to the United States from Chile about 50 years ago. Also, college and my future plans will definitely be part of family conversations. It is great because the time is well spent making bonds and forming stronger relationships with one another. Also, I get to think about what my future would be like. My family is there for me to help me and support me with any decisions. Friends are also a big part of a summer vacation. On this time off from school, we as friends get to enjoy life and spend time away from school. We form relationships outside of school. Our social life is used to expand communication between others. For example, if a group of friends from school decides to go to the beach, you can meet new people from other towns. Sometimes you might even find that someone who you thought was a friend because you waved to them in school or you spent your periods off with them in school, is really an acquaintance. The time is useful for us to see who we really are as people.
Summer time is important. We can use this time to learn responsibilities. Many students look for summer jobs to keep them motivated. Having a summer job is good because we learn to experience many new things such as: interacting with people, helping others with special needs, and having an idea of how a business is run. In many cases jobs are educational and they give us a sense of responsibility. It can give us a preview of what to expect in the future. Punctuality and attendance matter when it comes to occupations. Also we get an idea of how to communicate and treat people with dignity and respect. In addition, the summer gives us time to perform activities that we enjoy. In the summer, we can develop many skills. For example, a person who is very active can use the break to play sports. A person who is interested in art, can join an art camp and further develop their artistic skills. If we didnt have a summer break, nobody would have time to practice their hobbies, or to do the things that they really love to do.
Summer gives us time to become independent. Throughout the summer, we can learn a lot about who we really are. When we are in school, we look forward to the summer because it makes us feel like we are getting older. If we didnt have the summer, and we just kept going to school everyday, it wouldnt feel like we are making that "transition" to that higher level of education. It wouldnt seem as though we are developing through our high school years. It would feel as though we are stuck in the same grade for the rest of our lives. We wont be as motivated to attend college. We would feel trapped, like "Okay, I have been stuck in High School forever, and now you expect us to keep going." Everybody would want to take at least a year off of educating him or herself before they go off to college. That is why I feel as though the summer is helpful for us to distinguish who we are in terms of maturity. If we have a break in between the school yeas, we would "know" that we are growing wiser and older.
Mental health is important, and it sure does effect our performance both in school and as a person. If we were to have to go to school all year around it would become overwhelming and stressful. There are certain times during the week when we as students become frantic because there is so much work that has to be completed. For example, I go into my physics class and come out with a Lab to complete. Then, I go into my math class, read the board and proceed to write in my agenda, "Test on the Pythagorean Theorem." Next, I go into my U.S History class and I have to write a report on the Panama Canal. If you think this is bad; it gets worse. Not to mention the fact that I also have Lorcas poetry assignment for Spanish class, and the book report on, "A Child Called It". Im telling you, by the end of the day Im a nervous wreck. I come home and all I want to do is relax, but I cant because I have about five H.W assignments that come before any leisure time to relax.
The word "relaxing" does not exist as part of a vocabulary word for many students. Going to school does not give us time to relax, and this effects our mental health. It effects our concentration because we worry so much about a certain project. We also tend to get aggravated because the consecutive amounts of assignments just keep piling up. The stress causes you to walk around in a bad mood, because everything becomes a drag.
Besides the fact that school is stressful, it also gets boring. If you do anything too many times; for example: watching a movie or going to the park it gets boring. Well, school works in the same way. If schools were year around, and we had to attend the same classes almost every day, it would become boring beyond belief. Would you like learning about, "Newtons 3rd law of motion" or "Shakespeare" for an hour ever day? I suppose not. There would come a point in time were we would all dread waking up in the morning to enter a room full of lectures. By the end of the day, our heads would be right smack onto the desk. If this had to be the life of a teenager, 5 days out of the week for the whole year, the students will no longer be interested in wanting to learn as the year goes by. The hot sticky weather will make them too lazy to complete and assignment. Nobody would take his or her schoolwork seriously. This brings me to believe that if we do have a summer vacation, we as students will have time to relax; which helps us to perform better in general. The "break" will give us time to relieve our stress. We would no longer be lacking the energy needed to keep us going for the day. The break will help us perform better as people. We can get our act together and live a normal life, without constant worries about a test grade etc. Our mental health will shape up dramatically because we wont be running around like lunatics. Also, we would be able to fall asleep without having to say up late nights to prepare for the oral presentation. Our mind will be free to explore other interests and hobbies.
In conclusion, it is clear to see that students need the summer break as a part of their life. Not only will the summer give people time to relax. This leisure time can be useful in many ways to practice special hobbies and find independence. It helps people to mature. A person can learn responsibilities, and make important bonds with special loved ones. With out a summer break, life would be dull and hectic. Everybody in society will be effected by it, from the teachers to parents.
