On October 1, 2006 I will be joining Team Mucci and walking in the America's Walk For Diabetes fund-raising event. I am taking part in this event because I believe in and support the Associations mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all those who are affected by the disease. I will also be walking again this year to honor my father, Ron Bartolomucci, who has battled Type 2 Diabetes for 21 years now.
Did you know that over 20 million American's suffer from this disease and another 40 million are at risk of developing diabetes? After years of watching my father battle the disease and then being made aware of the above statistics, I felt it was time for me to do my part. Not only am I trying to raise funds by asking for the support of others, I'm also donating 5% of the monthly profits made by my business, Animals Safe At Home. For the many animals lovers like myself, there are no organizations developed at this time to assist animals with diabetes, however, the sooner we find a cure for humans, there will be one close behind for our furry little friends!
