Seal Hunting
I designed this section to show you what goes on during a seal hunt, and why it is so necessary for us to get this cruelty stopped.  I am still working on this page, so please check back often.  It won't be complete for some time since there is so much information that I want to post here for you.   If you have any information that you think I should post here (links, email contacts, pictures, etc.) please email me with the information.  Thanks for your help and visit again soon!
***WARNING***
The pictures on this website and the websites that have links listed here have very graphic pictures that might be disturbing to some people.  Please use your own discretion when viewing these pages.

But please keep in mind that these pictures tell the truth of what really goes on during a seal hunt.  These pictures show why we must stop this needless cruelty!
This year's hunt will start in just days.
325,000 seals will be killed this year alone.

Many people don't know the true reality of a seal hunt, and just how barbaric it is.  That is why I'm putting together this webpage to help educate you and get people to ban together to end the torture and killing.  We need to tell Canada that we will not support the seal hunts.  Please click on the links within this page, and please click on the pictures to learn more about the torture.  I know it is hard to read, and the pictures are hard to look at, but think of what these poor seals have to go through.  We must face reality and learn the truth.  The more you know, the more you can help fight and save the seals.
Could you look into these adorable eyes
and then brutally kill them?
Can you look into these adorable eyes
and say that you won't help?

Graphic Images Below This Point
Consider this like a "before" picture.

This is the natural environment, the normal daily life of a seal.  Imagine all the cute seal noises coming from this area.....
.....And you can consider this the "after" picture. An entire family slaughtered, yet not even close to the yearly number "allowed" to be murdered in this gruesome fashion.
March 2006
325,000 seals will die.
Three hundred and fifty thousand!!  Can you even begin to imagine how many that is?  Anthony Marr, a Canadian Wildlife Preservationist and Anti-Hunting activist, had a very unique way to explain just how many seals 375,000 really is.  If you lined these seals up nose to tail, estimating each seal to be about 1 meter in length, 375,000 seals would form a single line stretching 375 kilometers or 235 miles.  This is about the distance between Washington DC and New York City.  350,000 seals would equal 350 kilometers or the distance from Vancouver to Kamloops.  You would need to drive four hours at highways speeds to go from one end to the other.

A Funeral March for the Hunted 2005 is scheduled for March 15th.  It will begin from the Capital Building ih Washington DC to the United Nations Headquarters in NYC.  This will hopefully bring a lot of media attention to the hunt as they march through Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia, Trenton, Princeton, and Newark.  If you would like to join this march, please go to the website below to contact Anthony.

The pictures below show the weapon the seal hunters use.  It's called a Hakapik and they use this weapon to club and hook seals.  The manner in which they kill these seals is so barbaric, it's beyond comprehension.

Once the seal hunters have located the seals, they walk around on the ice beating each seal on the head several times.  Some of the seals don't die immediately.  Many of the seals frantically try to get away from the hunters but the hunters will chase them down so that they don't lose any.  Once they do catch up to them and the seal realizes it can't get away, the seal will look up at them maybe in an attempt to scare off the hunter, or maybe they look up out of fear before having the hakapik come slamming down and crush their skull.

After all the seals are clubbed, the hunters then proceed to skin them.  It is proven that about 42% of the seals clubbed are still alive when they are skinned.  The hunters take the pelts and leave the remains of the body on the ice to rot since the meat is of no value to them.

The manner in which these seals are murdered is so cruel and tragic.  Many wonder why other methods aren't used that will kill these seals faster so that they don't suffer.  The reason these hunters use a hakapik to club the seals on the head is so that the fur (pelts) is not damaged like it would be if a gun or rifle was used.

No matter what method is used to kill seals, we need to get these hunts stopped permanently.  Seal hunting is one of the largest mass-killings of marine life.  It is barbaric, cruel, and very upsetting.  And all of this goes on so that their fur can be used to make things such as the doll shown at the bottom of this page.   I personally am telling Canada that I will never come to their country, and I will not support any products that come from Canada as long as these seal hunts are allowed to continue.  Won't you do the same?  Won't you be a voice for these seals and stand up for them?  They need you now.
Seal hunters at work.
This is one of the most disturbing pictures I've seen.  After being stunned, this dying seal spews blood from her nose.  She probably died a slow and painful death.
These baby seals need our voices.  We must get these seal hunts stopped so that other seals won't have to go through the torture that this poor baby did.

Many groups such as IFAW and Sea Shephard have gone to the hunts to be a witness to the cruelty. Veterinarian's have also gone and documented what they have seen.  Click the links below to get more information on these barbaric hunts.
