Our Family
Mike and I met in February of 1993 while working together at Busch Gardens, Tampa. Mike was had already been working there when I was hired and he was given the distinct priveledge of introducing me to my duties as a conductor on the train ride. Within a month we were dating, and shortly after I came to realize that he was the man that I would spend the rest of my life with. Mike was married when we met, but he was seperated from his wife and she was living with another man, so he was free to move on. Mike brought a little ray of sunshine with him into my life... Britt. She was just a year old when we started dating, and as cute as could be. Mike and I were married and Josh was born in 1995. Bailey completed our family in 1997, and we bought our first house in 2003. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary, and I am still amazed every day at the turns my life has taken. Britt lives with us, and has since 2000. The kids are growing like weeds and Mike and I could not be happier with our life. I am still excited every morning when I wake up next to the man of my dreams. Our kids are healthy, smart, loving and incredible. What could be better than that?
We have already learned that Mike is a great hubby, a Middle School History teacher and Football Coach and the man of my dreams. He is also a great Dad who lives for his family. He works so hard at work and at home to provide us with the best possible life. He takes the concept of being the head of our household seriously, and serves us with his every breath. He adores his kids and the kids adore him.
That little ray of sunshine that Mike brought into my life is 13 now. She is a terrific person. She is at that age where she is figuring out who she is and how to be herself. She is a Straight-A student and was elected president of the National Junior Honor Society for her school. She is in the band, and will be the First-Chair Trombone this year. She is also a "Peer", which is a student-helper, and was one of the most requested Peers by teachers. She is creative and smart and brilliant!
When I found out that I was pregnant in 1995, I didn't know what to expect. I had hopes and dreams, of course, but I had no idea what I was in for. What I got was a little piece of my heart in human form. Josh is my little man who isn't so little anymore. He plays football and baseball and loves to watch sports with his Dad. He has this way about him that you can't help but love. He has a gregarious nature, and will find a friend anywhere he goes. He is amazing, there is no other way to say it.
In 1997 our family was complete with the addition of an adorable little girl. Bailey Jean became the last member of this Smith Family. This last little puzzle piece brought an infectious giggle and an indomitable spirit into our lives. She has a great attitude about life and an unending optimism, even at the tender age of 7. She is a gym bug, training 7+ hours per week at competitive gymnastics. She has chosen to follow this path, and has happily followed through with her committments. She is a great student who does well in school and always does her best in whatever she does.
