Welcome to my web page..

My name is jennifer hawke, and i moved from Billings, Montana to Portland, Oregon in August of 2004.  On this website you will find images of my artwork and writing -  please be respectful of copyright issues.  There is a link on each page where you can contact me through email.

A bit about me: After a brief stint at the Art Institute of Seattle in 1988, I returned to my hometown of Billings, Montana to study Fine Art at Rocky Mountain College and then on to Eastern Montana College.  I completed my degree from MSU-B in 1998, specializing in painting and cast metals.

I
enjoyed wearing many hats in Billings; from organizing numerous independent exhibitions at Grafix Studios in Billings, to working for three years as the Curatorial Assistant at the Yellowstone Art Museum.

My artwork is heavily influenced by my parents interest in antiques; Bob and Sandy Hawke own the Depot Antique Mall on Montana Avenue.  I loved having my studio is in my fathers antique refinishing workshop, where I frequently attempted to raid materials from his stash.  I am hoping to find an excellent studio space in Portland, but will never find a space that will rival dad's tools and materials.  *sigh*

I have been enjoying doing odd work about town for several folks, and have been having a great time being in people's homes and helping them out with their projects!  my new camera phone rocks, and i've taken a few
photographs.  i am enjoying the arts scene and am in love with the ReBuilding Center and SCRAP, they both come close to supplying what dad had on hand, as well as serving their community!  what more could my little idealistic mind want...

Please check out the links below to my last exhibition at the
Toucan Gallery in Billings, as well as a poem/artist statement written a few months after the show went up (it's a little dark), and the link to my resume.

Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to sign my guestbook or to email me.  I always enjoy hearing from others.
