| "Alone" One day I was walking along feeling sorry for myself and realized no one walking by had a clue what I was feeling. That was the start of this poem. The rest was based on my dislike of these dramatic love songs where people talk about doing things they could never do and would never do (like roping the moon). The structure of it is based on old jazz songs. They would repeat a line and then have a summary/explanation as the third line. The last stanza would conclude the lyric. |
| I walk around and no one knows how I feel I walk around and no one knows how I feel I'm sinking like the sun in the west since I don't have you I can't rope the moon or make mountains fall I can't rope the moon or make mountains fall But when life is crumbling around you then I'll take care of you I always notice how quiet life gets at night I always notice how quiet life gets at night especially when I lie here alone I need someone to see into who I really am and tell me I am loved I need to hold her and stroke her cheek I need the sound of her silences at night |
