We made it! Jenny's trying to figure out how to open the box that holds a register for everyone to sign. We almost wimped out and turned around about half an hour from the top. We were completely fatigued and we were worried that we wouldn't get back down before dark. But we kept going. It was a 180 degree emotional turnaround when we saw the monument. We had had great views on the way up, but the view from the top, when we could see in all directions was incredible. It was worth all four grueling hours. The hike down was much faster, and we were in a much better mood - but it was a killer on the knees and quads. |
