Jen's Final Thoughts

If you ever get a chance to take a trip like this, do it.  It was great just to see how things are different and how they're the same around the country.  There are so many different facets to the United States.  We were certainly never bored.  Of course, we didn't get to do everything we wanted.  But we both have long lists of things we'd like to see again someday.  Missy suggested I change the "title" of the trip.  She says it won't be the last 4 week vacation she has.  I hope it's not mine either.  Regardless, there will many, many shorter trips and I can't wait.  The meandering is far from over.
To Missy:  Thank you so much for thinking this trip wasn't a crazy idea.  I know the timing of the whole thing was not the best for you, but I'm glad you decided to do it.  This trip definitely would not have gone as smoothly or been nearly as fun if you hadn't been such a great travel partner.  We indulged each other our own little peculiarities (you - shopping, me - driving through slums).  And it definitely would not have worked if we both didn't have the same idiotic sense of humor.  This trip was important to me, and I'm glad you shared it with me.

It should not be denied...that being footloose has always exhilarated us.  It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppression and law and irksome obligations, with absolute freedom, and the road has always led west.
