Episode 13:  Monterey to Montara

From Monterey we headed north on the Pacific Coast Highway.  Unfortunately it was dark by the time we left so we didn't get to see the coast really.  We did stop at one beach though, that was pretty well moonlit, and walked down to the beach.  The waves were probably 6 feet high.  About two hours later we pulled into our accomodations for the night, the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel, about 25 miles south of San Francisco.  This was by far the best hostel we've ever stayed in anywhere.  Not only was it completely clean and cozy,  the people were nice and this has to be one of the greatest views out any hostel window.
The lighthouse and some of the hostel buildings.  Our room was in the one in the background.  Yes, it's a dinky little lighthouse.  There's another hostel about 30 miles south of here with a big lighthouse.
The view from our window.
Missy tidying up in the morning.  Some of the hostels require you to do a chore in exchange for your el cheapo accomodations.
There were some trails down to the rocks below the hostels and there was also a nice little beach.   Missy loves the ocean trinkets.
The first injury of the trip!  All in the name of art.  Missy was climbing over some big rocks at the beach and had a little accident.  She and the camera took a tumble.  Both suffered some structural damage, but still function properly.
