TRANS SPIRITUALITY is a quarterly magazine covering a diversity of various spiritual expressions and how they are being integrated into the transgender experience. We recommend you see an issue of TRANS SPIRITUALITY before you try to write for us. Back issues are available for $4 a copy and a 6 x 9 SAE with $1.11 postage.

We look for crisp material speaking directly to the experience of spirituality and transgenderism. Specifically, we want to see short articles that share how the two are being successfully integrated in ones life. Each issues has four basic portions: Fresh Ideas, Feedback, Features, and some stuff just For Fun.

Fresh Ideas
This section is for introducing any new ideas that invites others to give their feedback. These articles generally run anywhere from 500 to 2000 words, sometimes more. In each issue we run one long feature and a short one or two, or three. Accompanying illustrations are always welcome, like a photo of yourself to put next to your byline.

Feedback
This section is for responding to Fresh Ideas presented in previous issues or for reacting to anything in popular culture that is of interest to transgender spirituality or religious activity affecting transgenders. A subsection to Feedback is what we call Sounding Off and this portion is for venting with less concern for how well it is received by others. These pieces typically run anywhere from 250 to 750 words, seldom more.

Features

These are segments covered by staff writers and the Founding Corps, but can be open to other writers who grasp what these items are about. For example, we have a running feature of reviewing a book from the perspective of transgender spirituality. We could use more reviews of books addressing transgender spirituality, such as the Hermaphrodeities book.

For Fun

This is typically for short humorous pieces. As transgender expression can be experienced as a spiritual release of tension, so laughter can be a sacred release of tension. Helping our readers release their transgender-related tensions through a simple joke is always welcomed. See a copy of the zine to get a feel for the type of humor we find most appropriate for this purpose.
