A Sydney R-Class Tram serving the La Perouse to Cirqular Quay route in the early 1960's The tram is seen here stopping to pick up a passenger headed toward Cirqular Quay.
The New South Wales SRA's famed Pacific Class, Streamlined 38 class locomotive "3801" in the modern day operating one of it's special services. This locomotive was restored by the SRA in the early 1980's and is used from time to time for special events.

3801 pulling a train of 1940's period carrages full of train buffs out of a city station on a memorial or other special event train ride. 3801 is working hard to pull the carrages and is puffing black smoke and venting a fair bit of steam.
Back in it's heyday. the 3801 in the 1940's is here, stopped at a red signal whyle a car drives by. The 38 class was often used for the SRA's long, or fast express routes, such as the Newcastle Flyer and Melbourne Limited Express out of Sydney.
3801 and sister engine 3830, a non-streamlined 38 class pulling a train of period SRA carrages somewhere in the country in a double heading fasion. The trains have double headed infrequently, but have been known to do it on at least 2 occasions. Once as the Western Endeavour in 1970 (coast to coast trip Sydney-Perth) and once as the first steam train to travel from Sydney to Melbourne non stop.
