During our vacation, we went to Virginia, where Gage's cousin Meeshell first brought up the idea of us getting married. She even took Jen out to look at rings (along with Meme). On the drive to Indiana, we decided we needed to get married. The time was right. So we met with Jen's sister Alyson and her niece Skylar and went to look at rings. We quickly settled on one and bought it! When we got home that night, we told my parents of our plan (After Gage had already asked Jrn father for permission). We went out the next night and Jen bought her dress, even though the engagement wasn't official yet. But we were leaving to return to Virginia and then Texas soon and she wanted her mom and sisters to look at dresses with her.
Gage had a plan in mind for the proposal. We decided to have a family cookout at his cousin Kat and John's house in Herndon, Va. We went and bought steak and shrimp for the feast and made he sure everyone was there. Gage decided he wanted to take a photo of everyone together before we ate. But while he was trying to take the photo, he had a wardrobe malfunction as his pants began to fall off. Jen knew what was going on at this point. Everyone else just thought Gage was crazy. He started talking about how much he cared for Jen, although no one other than Jen was really listening. Already, John had swooped over and grabbed our camera and began snapping away (as you'll see below). Gage finally got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone.
