Setting: Outside of School

Emma: "So, what did you want to do for your birthday this weekend?"

Autumn: "I don't know. It's not really a big deal."

Emma: "Not a big deal? Come on girl, it's you sixteenth birthday!"

Autumn: "Hmm, I guess we can hangout or something."

Emma: "Now that's more like it. How about I throw you a party?"

Autumn: "I don't know, let's see how my dad is. He's been kind of down lately. I think he's been looking at pictures of my mom. I saw that the photo albums were out."

Emma: "Okay, I'll agree to that."
Setting: A few days later...
Autumn's Birthday

Emma: "Sorry your birthday isn't more exciting."
Autumn: "That's okay, I'm glad to be out of the house, my dad has been a real downer lately."
Zack: "You sure that it isn't because of Nikki's party?"
Emma & Autumn: "What?"
Zack: "Did you not hear? Word is that Kevin's parents are out of town and Nikki's using this opportunity to throw a big party at his house."
Emma: "She really has some nerve. Throwing a party at someone else's house on your birthday of all days. She didn't even invite you knowing full well that your next door."
Autumn: "Nikki just wants to be the center of attention."
Zack: "Well that's Nikki for you... Well, what do you all want to do now?"
Autumn: "I don't know. It's getting kind of late, and I'm a little tired. I think I'm just going to go home."
Emma: "You sure?"
Autumn: "Yeah, I'm tired."
Emma: "Well, alright. You take care, sweety."
Autumn begins to walk home, with the sunseting and the wind picking up. As she approaches her home, she can hear music blasting from Kevin's house. She sighs, and starts to head for the door when she notices Kevin standing outside his door. Autumn catches her breath as she debates in her head, whether or not to go talk to him. She finally decides to do it. She takes a deep breath, and walks towards Kevin. He looks up in her direction, as he hears her approaching.
Kevin: "Hey."
Autumn: "Hey... Is the party not going well?"
Kevin: "Nah, it's not that... I just needed some air. Nikki and her friends can be a little tiresome sometimes."
Autumn: "I know how you feel..."
Kevin: "But hey, isn't it your birthday today?"
Autumn: "Yeah, you remembered."
Kevin: " Yeah..."
An awkward silence goes by.
Kevin: "So how ya been?"
Autumn: "Alright... Kevin, there's something I need to tell you."
Kevin: "Yeah? What is it?"
Autumn: "Do you remember when we use to play as kids?"
Kevin: "Yeah."
Autumn: [Nervous] "Umm, well I think about that all the time."
Kevin: "................"
Autumn: "Umm, I mean, I wish we could be like that again."
Kevin: "....................."
Autumn: "I like you, Kevin."
Nikki suddenly opens the door.
Nikki: "Hey Kevin, get in here. Everyone is asking about you. Oh, hi, Autumn."
Nikki gives her a dirty look, then goes back inside. Kevin starts to follow her then stops, and looks back at Autumn, and smiles.
Kevin: "Hey, I'll see ya later, and happy birthday."
Autumn smiles at him as he goes inside.
