Sparks Lake Photo Gallery
These pictures were all taken at Sparks Lake which is a lake in the Cascade Mountains west of Bend.
This is Mt Bachelor and Sparks Lake. Mt Bachelor is a cinder cone 9,065 feet above sea level. Later this day, we took the ski lift up near the top of the mountain. For pictures of the view go to my Mt. Bachelor Photo Gallery.
This is the South Sister (10,358 feet) Oregon's third tallest mountain and Sparks Lake. This mountain is one of a trio named the Three Sisters.
This is my friend at Sparks Lake.
This is Broken Top Mountain (9,065 feet). I have no idea when, but it had a enourmous eruption similar to Mount St. Helen's. Go to my Mt. Bachelor Photo Gallery to see a good view of the big bowl in the side.
This is the South Sister again. The South Sister is the tallest of the three and has a lake in the caldera. There is a trail to the top that requires no climbing gear. It is only 11 miles long, but has an elevation gain of 4,900 feet.
