Douglas County Photo Gallery

This is the county I live in. It is really huge with more than 5,000 square miles. The population of the county is about 97,000 with about 19,000 in Roseburg which is the largest city in the county. For a map of Douglas County,

This is the view from my balcony in January 2000 after we had a lot of rain. The water is normally not past the support on the right that is now in the middle of the water.

This is the view from my balcony. The river is the South Umpqua.

This is a view from the campus I work on. The river is the North Umpqua, the mountain is Scott Mountain (4,250 feet). The fall colors in this photo are pretty cool, but the reds and oranges are finally coming out. It was a really warm fall so the leaves have been in the process of changing since August; they still are peaking now (early Nov. 1999) For a summer view from my campus, click here.

This is the North Umpqua River running through Boulder Creek Wilderness in my county.

This is a wilderness area on highway 138 which runs from Roseburg to Crater Lake. The river is the North Umpqua.

This is Colliding Rivers where the Little River (from the left)and the North Umpqua (from the right) collide head on and continue on to the top left of the photo as the North Umpqua River. For a winter view of Colliding Rivers,

This is Colliding Rivers from a different angle. I was a bit upstream at the Little River. You can see where the two rivers collide and go off to the top left corner of the picture.
