Animal Experimentation

Animal experimentation is a useless, cruel, and inhumane torture, not to mention a scientific fraud. Animal experimentation which is actually called vivisection, is directly responsible for the rampant growth of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, birth defects, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, leukemia, all kinds of mental diseases, Alzheimer’s, and AIDS. The reason is fundamental:

The medical research today is based almost entirely on animal experimentation, and it is impossible to re-create a naturally occurring disease in a healthy animal (or a human for that matter).  Simply because once it is “re-created” it is no longer the original natural disease.

Experimental research cannot find cures for any diseases no matter how many millions of animal or human experiments are performed (human experiments are often commonplace).

Also, animals cannot get human infectious diseases and we do not get theirs.

The result of looking at artificially diseased animals is that the data obtained is not applicable to humans, therefore is tragically misleading.

No disease in the 20th century has ever been cured as a result of animal experimentation.

Every second, of every day, of every year, an animal dies in an experiment in the United States. They have been burnt, crushed, sliced, electrocuted, tortured with drugs, poisoned with toxic chemicals, tormented in psychological testing, and subjected to other atrocities that so called scientists have been able to develop.

The animals consist of monkeys, dogs, cats, primates, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, farm animals, bears, etc. the list goes on.The experiments are conducted in vivisectionist mills ( which operate hidden from public view), colleges, and universities, hospitals, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, cosmetic and tobacco companies, and countless other companies, such as General Motors, where they are used in crash experiments, and by NASA, and the military.

In 1991, the budget of the NIH (National Institutes of Health) the largest source of funding for vivisectors was 8.6 billion tax dollars Yes, we the taxpayers are paying for this pointless, and useless activity. Now, because of AIDS, tax payers are pouring more billions of dollars into the pockets of “researchers” and “scientists” who never cured cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or anything else.Despite having consumed hundreds of billions of tax dollars, and not to mention billions of animals lives that were lost in the last few decades.

Experimenters have been infecting chimps with the HIV virus since 1984.None of them have become clinically ill, in spite of being infected with several different strains of the virus (so where are these billions of tax dollars going to?

Animal testing has done more harm to humans than any good whatsoever. The massive production and widespread use of pesticides and countless other chemicals found to be “safe” based on animal tests, are responsible for the relentless and massive pollution of our air, land, rivers, oceans, ozone, etc.

In the 1940’s &50’s, there was a drug called Thalidomide. It was tested on animals and considered to be “safe” on humans. The result, tens of thousands of babies born with devastating birth defects, the most common one being the limbs that are “flipper” shaped. That example is just one of the thousands of drugs tested on animals and considered to be “safe” for humans.

From 1976-1985, more than half of the prescription drugs approved by the FDA had side effects so serious, that they had to be withdrawn from the market. These were the same drugs that were also tested on animals and found to be “safe” for humans.

What is really sad, is that the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, reports that sophisticated non-animal research methods are more accurate, less expensive, and less time consuming.

Patients waiting for helpful drugs and treatments could be spared years of suffering if companies and government agencies would implement the efficient alternative to animal studies. These alternatives include:

1.Epidemiological studies- comparative studies of large human populations.

2. In vitro research- cell and tissue studies.

3. Clinical research- studies of human patients.

4. Computer modeling- computer programs to predict the effects of external influences on the human biochemical model.

5. Eyetex (instead of using the Draize test, it acts like the cornea of the human eye, and it is more accurate than using a rabbits eye.

6. Skintex- this test uses human skin cells grown in a special solution, that can show how much damage is done by a product, and the results show how human skin is affected.

7. Microtox- test uses special bacteria that give off light, as part of their normal respiration. The more poisonous a product, the less the bacteria respire, and the less light they give off. This is an alternative of the LD50 test, and other poisonous tests.

There is a reason they do not use these alternatives, and the reason is simple. There is no money to be made from healthy people. This is why medical and research establishments are not in the least interested in prevention (and practically all diseases are preventable).

This criminal refusal to remove the known causes of so many human ailments guarantees a situation where practically everyone is sick or will eventually get sick. Once millions upon millions of people are sick and dying, or in need of transplants, drugs, tests, radiation, and surgeries, the expenditures connected with the “heath care” skyrocket accordingly.

People need to realize that this activity that they themselves are paying for is absolutely useless. And until more people are let in on the facts, see the gruesome pictures, or read the articles, animal experimentation will continue. People speaking up for animals is the only way this will stop, because the sad truth is, animals can’t speak for themselves.
