William Martin Connery, Jr. (b. 29 Jan 1855, Bristol, Rhode Island, d. 25 Jan 1911, Chicago, Illinois, buried at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois)

Attended school in Chicago, assisted his father in business and for many years was certified weighmaster for the board of trade and city weighmaster in the weighing of coal. In 1904 he and his brotherJohn T. organized the Miami Coal Company of which William became treasurer.

William married Emma H. Duggan and they had one daughter Charlotte.

John Tobin Connery (b. 10 Jan 1862, Bristol, Rhode Island, d. 05 Jun 1937, Chicago, Illinois, buried at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois)

Was educated in Chicago public and private schools and at the Athenaeum. In 1876, when 15 years of age, he took employment as a yard clerk for Ed Hedstrom and Company coal merchants and for more than 50 years had been identified with the coal industry. From 1881 until 1884, he was cashier and bookkeeper for the Silver Creek & Morris Coal Company. He was its secretary from 1884 to 1894. John became president of the Miami Coal Company on June 1, 1904, which had its offices in the McCormick Building at 332 South Michi g an Avenue. He helped finance construction of the Edgewater Beach Hotel and Apartments complex, 1916-1927; was president of the Edgewater Beach Hotel and Apartments from 1919 until his death in 1937; and was also president of the Bryn Mawr Beach Building Corporation.

President Harding appointed John T. Connery a member of the president's council on unemployment in 1922. This appointment did not mean that Mr. Connery was a republican for on the contrary he was a lifelong democrat.

John married Mary E. Daley and they had six children, Mary (Mae), Margaret, John Tobin, Jr., Lillian, John Daley, and Bernadette Romana.

Michael Morgan Connery (b. 10 Oct 1861, Bristol, Rhode Island, d. 03 Jun 1923, Chicago, Illinois, buried at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois)

The last of the children to be born in Rhode Island. The family moved to Chicago when he was four months old. He was educated in the schools of Chicago. Michael was with the Silver Creek & Morris Coal Company of Chicago until it merged with the Consumers Coal Company. He then became associated with the Edgewater Coal Company where he remained until his death.

Michael married Mary Britt  Murnane and their children were William Michael, Mary Frances, Josephine Marie, Edmond Murnane (died young), Eleanor Bridget, Katherine Adeline (died young), John Murnane, Joseph Vincent, Henry J, Elizabeth, Colleen, and Lucille.

James Patrick Connery (b. 05 May 1865, Chicago, Illinois, d. 30 Jun 1929, Chicago, Illinois, buried at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois

Attended school in Chicago.
He was employed by the Silver Creek & Morris Coal Company for many years. Following the death of his brother William M. in 1911, he became secretary of the Miami Coal Company and continued in that capacity for the remainder of his life.

James married Maria Teresa O'Donnell and their children where William Joseph, Mary Loretta, Helen Catherine and Gertrude Elizabeth.

In Memoriam: Founders and Makers of Illinois ": J. P. was at one time a business associate of Will Hays, who at that time was attorney for Indiana coal interests. Although he did not participate in political affairs, Mr. Connery was a close friend and associate of many leaders in democratic circles in Chicago and Cook county. He was chiefly known for his untiring application to his business interests and for his gifts to charity.

Following an illness of three months, James P. Connery passed away at his home, 3400 Sheridan road, June 30, 1929. The following newspaper paragraph appeared under the date of August 18, 1929: "A number of Chicago political leaders will attend a memorial service tomorrow morning in the Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Riverside ,  Michigan (his summer home near Benton Harbor) for the late J. P. Connery, who died three months ago. Mr. Connery, who was one of the stockholders in the Edgewater Beach Hotel, was a founder and trustee of the Lady of the Lake parish. The Rev. Wendell Phi llips Corcoran will conduct the mass."

New York Times 1 July 1929 "CHICAGO, July 1 - James P. Connery, prominent Democrat and an important witness last year in the Senatorial investigation of the Teapot Dome "slush fund," died at his home  yesterday. He was 63 years old. Mr. Connery was once the partner of Will Hays, former Postmaster General and now the high court of the moving picture industry, in stock market operations. In the Teapot Dome inquiry Mr. Connery was named with Mr. Hays and  Harry F. Sinclair, who subsequently was sentenced to serve a jail term. Mr. Connery is survived by a son, three daughters and three brothers."

Francis married Ellen Gertrude Osborne and their children were Ellen Marie, Marie Jeanette, Francis Daniel Jr., John Joseph, Vivian and Dorothy.

Chicago Tribune, Apr 12, 1916 - POLITICS VICTIM, Francis D. Connery, Former City  Clerk, Beaten Supposedly by Harrison Workers - Francis D. Connery, former city clerk, was severely beaten by four men who stepped out of an automobile at Milwaukee and Wabansia Avenue shortly after noon yesterday.  Mr. Connery was working for J. G. Jacobson, candidate on the Sullivan (note - Francis Connery's niece was Loretta Connery Sullivan) ticket for ward committeeman in the Twenty-eighth ward, and was walking on the sidewalk when the men, who are believed by the police and by Mr. Connery to  be workers for his rival, Frank Paschen, candidate on the Harrison Democratic ticket, assaulted him. He was taken to his home in a private automobile, where his injuries were dressed by a physician. Mr. Connery made a report to the Shakspeare police. While in the station he faced Peter McGrath and Edward Faulkner, who had been arrested a short time after several shots had been fired in front of the polling place at 2004 Armitage Avenue, in the 21st precinct of the 28th ward. Mr. Connery identified Mr. Faulkner as one of his assailants.

Joseph Connery purchased this larger space on 22 Aug 1935 so that the remaining family members could all be buried together.

Catherine never married.  Per the census of 1900, 1902 and 1930, she resided with her brother Joseph and was a Public School Teacher.

Vincent Augustus Connery   (b. 22 Jan 1878, Chicago, Illinois, d. 21 Aug 1935, Chicago, Illinois, buried at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, Illinois)

Vincent never married. Per the census of 1900, 1902 and 1930, he resided with his brother Joseph and was a  book keeper  in 1900, a Coal Co Cashier in 1920 and a Coal Co Retail Executive in 1930.

Elizabeth M Connery

Elizabeth never married. Per the census of 1900, 1902 and 1930, she resided with her brother Joseph and was a school teacher in 1900 and a Public School Truant Officer in 1920 and 1930.
