| Claire (Thibault)Hill was born June 17, 1944 in Fall River, MA. She married Lyle Hill on December 10, 1966. She often said she knew Lyle was special because he invited her to church for their second date. Claire was an accomplished solo and choir vocalist, guitarist, and english handbell ringer. She only performed in church or for family, despite being told many times that her beautiful voice deserved a wider audience. While at UCC, Claire was a faithful & enthusiastic handbell ringer. She inspired & delighted the group with her ringing skills & humor. She solo rang on several occasions including O Holy Night on Christmas Eve services. She also sang in the Choir & served on the Music Committee. Claire enjoyed painting, knitting, fishing, reading, and crafting when she was at home. Claire came up with the idea to purchase a small motorhome in the early 1970's. This decision shaped our family life for many years to come. We saw much more of this amazing country than most people, traveling to Florida, Canada, Washington, Oregon, and most of what lay in between. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her sense of humor, quiet determination, and love of chocolate. But what many do not know is that Claire was the primary caretaker of her mother who suffered from Alzheimer's for many years before passing away in 2000. Claire was also the main hostess of the family, the one who organized family holidays and reunions. She loved cooking and decorating for holidays. Even after cancer entered her life, she was determined to host family holidays as much as possible. Claire and Lyle celebrated their 39th anniversary on December 10, 2005. The following day, Claire passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family as she had wished. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lavoie in Foster, RI and her birth son, Patrick Channing in Florida. She had five grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Janice Conway in Connecticut and many cousins, nieces and nephews. |
