So just what is so special
about these two sets? Afterall you are only get a box to hold 5 already
available CDs. Well for starters both sets where issued in a small run
of 1000 units each and all are numbered. To my knowledge only the UK
got the chance of buying the boxes and it is always nice to have a unique
box to hold the CDs. The CDs in the box are also now unavailable in
the shops.
The CDs are themselves rare nowadays as they have been deleted from
the EMI catalogue. For those unaware Maiden re-released the first ten
albums in picture CD format. Each CD contained the original album plus
a second CD containing the b-sides from each single taken from the album.
(These CDs were also issued in the USA by Castle Communications and
fetch high prices). The CDs were issued in 1995 before the enhanced
re-releases and all have reproduced sleeves. All in all another quality
issue from the band. They were also available separately.
Part
II contains the following CDs:
Live After Death (cdem1575)
Somewhere In Time (cdem1576)
7th Son of a 7th Son (cdem1577)
No Prayer For The Dying (cdem1578)
Fear of the Dark (cdem1579)
As you can see from the pictures
the box cover is a collage of each album. The back of the box (not pictured)
lists all the album tracks. The last picture shows the spines of the
CDs included in both boxes.
The box itself does not have a catalogue number.
As for a value: mint condition
copies will easily start at around the £200/$288
and then start to go up. I cannot really stress just how hard it is
to get a hold of one let alone both sets. They do not come up for sale
often and can easily be considered amongst the top Maiden rarities out
there.
Hope I haven't put anyone
off hunting for them!!!!
