Well, I have to say I'm incredibly disappointed with Rhino, to put it mildly.
Y'see, I learned a little while ago that they let the rights expire before they could produce Season 3 Part 2...in other words, that means nobody has any idea when the next and LAST part will be issued so we can have a complete set.
Damn you Rhino! What's the problem? I mean, I can understand the corporate mentality if you said "oh, the first batch of seasons didn't sell well enough to warrant the final part to be relased." AND even if you did say that, I might point out the crappy amount of advertising that was done to promote the DVDs, not to mention the TRULY OUTRAGEOUS pricetag!
BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's even more pathetic an excuse than that! I mean, every company KNOWS how long they have the rights for before they expire...so they get the sets out in time. The company producing the He-Man sets have already issued a release schedule, and have planned it so every seasons will get released before they lose the rights. Isn't that nice of them? They also pack it full with 6 DVDs for $50 with tons of extras, and they're a small company.
Eh, Rhino? So how do you explain the 3 DVD set of Jem that cost over $75 with a piddle of extras?!? And now you won't even bother to think ahead far enough to get the last part out? How come you couldn't be bothered to even tell us fans what was up? WE HAD TO ASK! Only then, you told us there would be no S3P2. THAT'S HOW YOU TREAT FANS?!?
WHY did you even release it in parts?!? It's not that long, and there was a possibility you might not get the whole thing out in time, wouldn't it have been better to just release a 6 DVD set in one shot? Oh NO! We must GOUGE the fans! Make them pay double! And then leave them hanging!
Argh. Sorry, I didn't realise how peeved am I at all of this.
My message now, I spose would be to not support Rhino and NOT buy the DVDs. That hurts me to say, because Rhino used to be a really cool company, and before I thought if Rhino released JEM, they'd do it better than anyone else. Well, so much for that.
Apparently SONY own the rights again...which means we'll never see it. It will have to take some small company to license it and do it right. Which means they'll have to do it all over again, and we'll have to buy everything again...I don't mind having doubles, but it won't happen for a least a couple of years from now...
So yeah, don't support Rhino and don't buy the set unless we fans get a GUARANTEE that all the seasons will be released. Don't do it at all if you're gonna screw it up and disappoint everyone.
