My Father wrote for Me ...

Gems are stones.

White Diamonds
Rubies
Pearls
Sapphires

Bright and cold

My Jem teaches
How deep
Warm affection
Penetrates.

And returns.
  -2001-

Come into my arms, Jem,
I'll give you shelter from the storm.
Not a word may be spoken
Imagine a place
Always safe and warm
I'll give you shelter from the storm.

It began on a simple morn,
You a newborn baby
Placed in my arms
In a little camp
I got your innocence
And gave you shelter from the storm.

I touched your finger tips,
Looked into your eyes.
All about you gave me the strength
To take you with me when I go.

Daughter

Touches the gift
Chosen from the riches
Of the Fair,
Looks and remembers....

Remembers the depth
In her eyes,
The shine as they gaze,
The widening in delight.

Trinkets turned away from,
Hand grab in Riches,
Clutches them,
Drops the jewels and pearls.

Remembers the hold
In her eyes,
The place they gaze,
The quiet in their look.

Grabs up a bolt of silk,
From a Chinaman's loom,
An African Diamond,
As Blue as the Skies.

Remembers the gaze,
In her eyes,
The pale of my gifts,
As I think them for her.

Sees her in the Fair,
As she runs to me,
My arms empty,
But for her embrace.

Remembers the Giver
And the given,
Full arms,
The best gift.

-2003-

A sudden weight
Light, delicate, moving,
In my arms.

Can there be love?
So new,
So perfect,
So real,
So surprisingly
There,
Forever.

-2003-

Sometimes it is spring,
Sometimes not anything,
But we alway try,
Though we don't know why.

But we always do.

-2004- (Joni Mitchell) -

Looks at my daughter,
Sees only love,
Takes her hand,
As she looks at the sales.

She looks at my gaze,
Sees promises,
To keep when the skies,
Grant Heaven to us all.
