Jill Morton, founder and head baker of Jill’s GoodiesTo Go, is a native of the Chicago area. Born and raised in Des Plaines, she currently resides in Algonquin, Illinois.
Gifted with a strong work ethic, Jill entered the work force upon graduating from Maine Township High School West and took a job as a junior file clerk in Des Plaines. Hard work and persistence paid off for her as she rose into the management ranks. Demonstrating keen insight and business sense, Jill left after 20 years when the company was on the verge of self-destruction. Aware of the realities of the modern business world, she enrolled at Northern Illinois University to obtain the degree in Accounting that her prior success in business proved she already deserved. While working full time and driving 135 miles a day she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1992 and subsequently passed the CPA exam!
Equipped with a degree and a certificate, thus began a litany of accounting jobs that strengthened her already savvy skills. During that time she found an outlet from being overworked, unappreciated and having no opportunities for advancement – she baked. And she found that she loved it. Better still, her co-workers, family and friends loved it as well. The seed was planted – why not combine the business skills she learned with the baking skills she loved.
Having worked at various
places for many half-baked people, Jill now plans to make the step from half
baked to fully baked as she introduces her full line of baked goods marketed
to businesses, schools, trade shows, and anyone else who will pay on time.
