Well we wanted warm, clear sea, and snorkelling and we got it. This was the 1st time we had a go at an all inclusive package and off we went on a lovely A330. Though it was the rainy season, it only rained once and that had disappeared by breakfast.

The Hotels on the Cayo are remote from the real Cuba. The nearest town, Moron, was 40 minutes away from our hotel. When on the hotel complex we felt that we could have been anywhere, not necessarily Cuba. However, a day spent in Havana and another with one of the waiter’s family opened our eyes to the real Cuba and was fascinating.

We went on a Jungle Tour, driving speedboats and snorkelling in the mangrove swamps. We went to Havana which was very interesting, and run down. And we visited one of the waiter's families and saw the real Cuba for a day. It was all fascinating.

The Cubans are very friendly - and very poor. The waiter is earning $10 per month, his wife a doctor $20 per month.
