There's only a few theories on her 'parent's', which makes since, she is one of the older queens, though she's not that old:
Jenny/Skimble- Yes, there are beleiver's out there who beleive that they are the parents of Demeter, Bombalurina, and Jemima. And I guess I can sort of see how they came up with this conclusion. I mean, she's gold, Skimble's gold...she has rust/scarlett in her mane, and Jenny has rust/orange in her mane...but I mean, where's the black coming from...and the white bibs too?? I suppose it is a possibility, but I highly disagree with this.
Grizabella- Now some speculate that Old Grizzie is the mother of Demeter, Bombalurina, and Jemima. I'm not sure how they came up with this, since they don't look like her much, unless they all had different fathers. But the way all three act around Grizabella is seemingly more significant then the others(Excluding Victoria and Old Deuteronomy) So their actions may cause some suspicion.
Old Deuteronomy- This is another theory, since the leader does have numerous progeny, and did have many mates, all of which you don't know what they looked like(With the exception of Grizabella, though this is also speculation among fans.) But some do beleive that Old Deuteronomy is her father and her mother is ...unknown(?). But I mean, come on, still. In many of the productions, she is mated with Munkustrap, and it's almost certain that Old Deuteronomy is Munkustrap's father. So that'd be like half-brother, half-sister mating. Ew...So yeah, I don't really beleive in this either.
Macavity- There is also one theory that Macavity is her father.This is sick too, seeing as how he probably raped her in the past. But it would definately explain why she's so spastic and scared of him. This is one theory that I could jump on board with.(I don't really believe it, but I can jump on board with it, if I ever read it in a story.)
-There are of course many other theories of her parents, but most are made up characters. Her parents are dead, parents were sent to the heavyside layer, or that she was a stray, abandoned.
Her Profile:
Demeter is usually a Gold and Black Calico queen.(But as I have said countless times before, it all depends on what production you are watching. She can be an Orange and Black Calico, and in one production she is a light grey calico with white and black markings)She hangs around her friends which usually are Bombalurina, Cassandra, Jellylorum and Tantomile. There is one major speculation that fans always seem to come up with. It is speculated that her and Bomb are either best friends or sisters. (And I beleive both theories are plausible) It is beleived that Demeter is either a Teenager or a young adult in the Jellicle Tribe. She is one of the main characters seeing as how she has several solo's starting with the Prolouge Song. She is the queen that warns everyone of Macavity, everytime he shows up, though in most productions it shows that Bombalurina is also aware of the toms presence and freaks out right along with her companion. Demeter is the one who sniffs out Macavity's clever disguise and reveals his true self to the jellicles. He tries to catnapp her, but Munkustrap and Alonzo intervine to save her. But it always depend on which production you're watching to know which tom she goes to. In a strange sense, Demeter is unsure whether or not to accept Grizabella, but ends up being hateful to her. Still during the remainder of the play she has mixed feelings abobut Grizabella. |
