Write the Day

Write the day.
Yes, a whole day:
Write billions of people
And as many ways
Of feeling, of thinking,
Of seeing and speaking,
Write laughing and singing,
Right the day.

Write the day.
Write clouds in the sky:
And fathers who leave
And kids who ask why
Their daddy is leaving,
Their mother is weeping,
Write crying and singing,
Right the day.

Right the day,
Write springs in the grass
And wind like a kiss
And air like the glass:
Like crystal sands grown
In stripes blue and gold,
A blue bauble blown,
Write the day.
