Dedicated to Lexi, Lindsey, Susie, L.J., Lydia, and the myriad others whose love for science I don't understand.
I never saw before
That what I see as dull
Boring and confusing
A waste of time
Except whats useful
Is something more.
I never understood
That youve given your life
Not just pragmatically
Not for your parents
But you fight
For what you could
Enjoy doing forever
And you look at science
Like I look at art.
It moves you
Like I move my audience
Its your passions endeavor
If I love my poems
You love your theory as much
And it doesnt have to be useful
It doesnt have to better the world.
If its science, thats enough.
Stars, energy, chromosomes,
Delta, lambda, the elements
Are your medium of design
And yours isnt so different
From the work I create
And so Im resigned
To learn to love science.
