Kansas in the Fall
Fall is nice
When brightly-colored trees
Wave their arms
In the strong Kansas breeze
Winter is better
Solemn contemplation
Time for arts and creating
And long meditation
Summer in Kansas
Is hot and wild
And much like my cousin
An undisciplined child
But spring, oh spring
Is light and fresh and clean
A time for new life
But most of all for green
For Kansas this time
Must be the best season
What makes Kansas ugly
Is ironically the reason
For the nasty muddy fields
Come alive with motion
As the blades of wheat
Peek out to see Sol's devotion
And each blade blows
With each gust of wind
Like a foot-deep bright-green ocean
