Family Times

A snug little family
In a snug little house
A nicely-basted turkey
An obligatory mouse
A father with no mother
Yet not a broken home
Childrens parents absent
Alone, but not alone

Birthdays with the family
Longish, coldish autumn nights
Singing, speaking, frivolous play
Inestimable worth to every wight
The family with father far
Away, yet children happily hone
Their love and need of family, him:
Alone, but not alone

And death comes in the family
And the children all are gone
But the father still has family
Alone, but not alone
