*1st since the hiatus

The no repeats thing was starting to wear thin.   Many in attendance hoped for a few repeats, because Phish had never gone longer than 4 shows without repeating at least 1 for one of the previous shows.     But tonight, that was not to be.

46 Days-  Kind of forgot about this one   It really got the crowd moving and directly went into:
Julius-  Very very strong version.  Great Trey work throughout.
Weigh-  Nice to hear, flawless composition section, fun Page piano(as always)
Uncle Pen- another standard job, Trey botched several parts, but fun nonetheless.
Tube- Always love a Tube and this one did not disappoint.  Featured a jam loosely based on the chord progression of Dear Mrs. Reagan, although at no point did we think it would be busted out.
Train Song-  I think we all sort of forgot this one.  Hearing this always takes me back to Hampton 97, with its perfect placement after the 2nd night's opener.  Great tune.
Esther-  As this began, I was hoping that Trey wouldnt mess it up, as he is prone to do with this song(can't really blame him), but this was tight.  Best version in a while.
Two Versions of Me-  went to take a leak, it sounded like they were playing.
Roggae-  this song is always fun, but it never does anything, which is a shame, because it could be more.
Round Room-  Ah, more Mike.  Three Mike originals in the set, can't remember that happening before.   Always love me a Mike tune.
Loving Cup- Play it Page.  Totally hot Page this version, smoking Trey solo, great closer.

At setbreak, the consensus was they would have to start repeating tunes now, they had nothing left to fill out a second set.   How wrong we were:

Runaway Jim-  This was a popular call for show opener, instead we get it in the second set opener slot.  No complaints here.    A stellar version, not incredibly long, but it got the job done, as Mike took control of the jam early before Trey took the lead and drove the band into :
Simple- The jam out of Simple sounded a lot like the Alpine 04 Ghost, it had that same soaring quality, however; it didnt stay long on this night and that soaring groove went into:
Scents and Subtle Sounds-  I will say nothing about this except for right before the segue into Furry Creature, the jam took a dark and evil turn, going into a Megadeth-esque sound before going into the aforementioned:
BBFCFM-  Arena rock at its finest, Trey did some stuff with the megaphone.
HYHU>Purple Rain>HYHU-  After that intensity of music, we all needed a break.  We got a hysterical one with this Fishman bust out.  Nice vacumn solo and he actually remembered the lyrics too!
Drowned>Prince Caspian-  I list these together because they deserved to be mentioned in the same sentence.   This was the highlight of the night, simply perfect and definitely the highlight of the early part of the tour.   The jam was dominated by Trey and Fishman playing off each other.
ENCORE:
Stash-  And so the last "big" gun comes out.   Nothing to say about this version, but it was very cool to hear as the encore, especially after such a great second set.  Definitely an encore version of Stash.

All in all, probably a step above the 1st night at the LASA, if only for the strength and uniqueness of set 2.   See you all in Nashville!
