DI is the number one promoted store on every cruise ship.
PPI controls 70% of the shopping programs on the cruise ships.
DI is now in partnership with PPI.
DI controls the hiring, training, and firing of the Super Shoppers and Port Shopping Ambassadors through PPI.
DI pays a percentage of sales as an incentive to the Supper Shoppers through PPI. They are the only ones allowed to participate in these incentives as they control the shopping program.

Draw your own conclusions to the newspaper articles we posted. We pared the number of articles down to less than half of those sent to us. This is how the largest retailer in the Caribbean does business in one of the largest revenue ports...where no one is watching. Until now!
As recently as a few weeks ago, DI employees went on strike. Why? Because they had not been paid for months. And, because employees are required to sign resignation letters when hired, in order for the company to avoid penalties when they terminate someone’s employment without cause. There seems to be no shortage of money for expansion, and yet DI feels no responsibility to pay employees the money they have earned?

Sources say that the Mexican IRS and Mexican Better Business Bureau have been aggressively examining DI’s business practices. The Mexican Better Business Bureau temporarily closed down several DI locations recently. Which prompted us to check the status of the US Better Business Bureau…no surprise…Unsatisfactory!

These practices have been going on for years, but obviously no one thought anyone would care about what happens in Mexico! DI is allegedly under investigation for tax evasion, fraud, sexual harassment, discrimination, smuggling, stealing electricity, dumping toxic waste from their factories… the list goes on and on. A few too many articles over too much time to not give some credibility to them.

This is a company that insiders say hopes to go public…please say it isn’t so! The greed of these bigoted, hate monger’s is insatiable.

Are you comfortable with DI having access to your sales results through PPI?
Are you happy to have DI manipulating your business? Did you know that if have a good day, the super shopper will be threatened, punished or fired unless they redirect the business to DI operations?
Are you ok paying promotional fees to PPI, who is allowing this to happen?
Are you aware that in ST. Thomas, DI management demands that Super Shoppers are to give NO BUSINESS TO ANY, I REPEAT ANY, STORE OTHER THAN DI, even if they are not a jewelry store?
How do you feel that management in Cozumel told super shoppers that DI “has a gun to Panoff’s head and he has to do what they want”?
Is this what is best for the passengers? Who is looking out for their best interest???

There was a big commotion when this web page was conceived. Some hoped in vein that this would all die off and become yesterday’s news. Some have written asking if we have been paid off because of the delay in this posting. If money were the issue, this information would never have been put on this web site. The only purpose of this site is to preserve the survival of the merchants in the cruise ship ports. Period. Why should all of the ethical businesses in the cruise ship ports suffer from the unethical practices of DI/PPI? Most have been in business far longer than both companies.
As long as we receive information, we will continue to inform you. Let the rebellion continue!!!

We are businessmen and have full time commitment to our businesses. We had no idea how time consuming this project would turn out to be. This investigation needs full time attention, thus the delay between postings. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Please don’t assume these are isolated incidences…this is the calm before the storm. DI’s plans to take over all cruise ship business is already in progress…this is the tip of the iceberg.
How far the cruise lines are involved remains to be seen…I cannot believe that they are aware of the behind the scenes practices of DI/PPI. One thing is for sure…
No American, which comprises most of the cruise ship passengers, would not wish to fall victim to these unscrupulous tactics.
If you are a merchant who regularly sees passengers that say they are told not to shop anywhere but DI, please refer them to this web site and let them know why!
Bottom line is that we have sources within these companies who do not agree with what is taking place and are providing us with information. No doubt that both companies would be shocked to find out who and how many of their colleagues are supplying the information. We encourage employees of DI/PPI to continue to support us…don’t go down with a sinking ship! We have not and will not divulge our sources of information; Time is of the essence. Season has begun…make sure you get your fair share of the business this season…before it is too late.
