| Ottawa trip 2004 at the Carlton County Jail
First of all I just wanted to mention it was really great meeting so many new people this time out. Although Im really bad for names you know who you were. We left Yorkdale at the scheduled time around 10.30, as there was no sign of a snowstorm as yet. Arrived in Ottawa about 5.30 unpacked our things in our cells. We stayed on the 4th floor in Cell #3 which was 4 floors exactly under the infamous death row cell where the apparition of Patrick James Whelen has been seen. After getting some dinner we had our ghost walk of the jail, which was a couple hours and detailed for the new ghost enthusiasts that ventured on the trip, although I found last years walk more informative. This time out the information was shy on some details but for the most part it was very well expressed and the guide was friendly. After the tour of the jail Steve Dietrich and I talked about our tours seeing we had different tour guides to collect the most possible information on the most recent hauntings to direct our weekend investigation to the most active location. In the end we decided it was going to be the 4th death row cell on level 8 where the last apparition of Patrick James Whelan has been seen. We gathered our equipment and headed to death row for our first investigation of the weekend. We set up our equipment measured the upstairs death row area, Steve spent some time talking to people about ghost photography while I tested the area for EMF locations and recorded temperature readings while Steve had set up a video recorder in cell #4. A group of people with Debbie had decided to try and make contact by sance. We took many pictures I know myself I had taken about 500 pictures within a couple hours hoping to possibly capture something with a digital camera. Oh I almost forgot to mention thanks to Lisa for providing snacks just when we thought we were going to be full from dinner in the end we spent approx 3 hours upstairs with no unusual activity to report so we decided after spending a long day on the bus to pack it in for the night. Saturday morning after having breakfast we headed off to Matinock to Watsons Mill for a few hours to learn of the history and the Ghost sightings of Anne Crosby Courier. It was nice as I actually got to concentrate on the stories as it was not 30 as it was last year keeping in mind the mill is not heated. After leaving the Mill in mid afternoon we headed off for a small tour of Ottawa to learn how our tax dollars are being spent, I think every building is being renovated. After arriving back at the jail a couple of us grabbed a small meal, as we had our dinner at the Courtyard Restaurant booked. Steve and myself decided we were going to take another shot at death row, we met another couple very interested in our investigation, I have to apologize as I dont remember there names it was nice to have people interested in our investigation techniques. After spending a few more hours running video, taking hundreds of photos, temperature readings and EMF readings after marking all the power sources and radiators for hotspots in the area we were working in. We packed it in and headed to the Courtyard for dinner. After Dinner we went on the Ghost walks of Ottawa on the rainy Saturday evening and spent the rest of the evening having a good time with all the new people who ventured out this time out. On the Sunday we visited the Laurier house we headed back to the Courtyard once again to have our brunch and it was excellent. After shopping downtown for an hour and a half we headed back to Toronto. Jeff Ostrander, Jeffs Paranormal |
