| On 21st September of this year Jim celebrated 42 years in the PVC Industry. ISpent the first eighteen years of working life at Lankro Chemicals (now Akcros) in Eccles, Manchester, working in the Plastics Technical Service Laboratory. During this time studied part-time and graduated in Applied Polymer Chemistry. In 1974 switched from Laboratory Manager to Technical Sales, resulting eventually as North Europe Sales Manager for plastics additives and textile chemicals. 1982 - left Lankro to join Baerlocher as UK Sales Manager. 1989 - became Managing Director. In 2004 turnover was �19million. Since 1974 has had a close technical and commercial involvement in the Nordic PVC Industry. 1995 until 2003 was a member of the Board of directors of Baerlocher Nordic. Since 1989 has been a member of the organising committee of the Brighton PVC conferences and a member of the PVC Committee of the institute of Materials of which I am a Fellow. April 2006 retired as MD of Baerlocher UK and as President of the British Plastics Federation. Noe acting as an independent consultant within the PVC Industry. |
| Born in Clayton, Manchester on December 29, 1947. Always been a sportsman and was an enthusiastic amateur footballer. Finished playing days with Walshaw Sports Club in the Lancashire Amateur League and then took up golf and squash. A qualified F.A. Coach and was for several years a coach for Woodbank Juniors F.C in Bury. Since Burt Trautman broke his neck in the 1956 Cup Final, has been a Manchester City fan. "I'll break it again if ever I meet him !" Nevertheless, there for most home games and even venture away. Mad you say? Stop Press ! Met Bert this year at City dinner. Didn't break his neck but decided to kiss his bum instead. Hobbies nowadays are golf, fellwalking, reading and watercolour painting (see the gallery ! ) aim to add to these steadily to fill retirement days. Musical taste is wide ranging, but with a particular passion for the Beatles, Billy Joel and Andrea Bocelli |
| Marie and I met at Lankro Chemicals in 1967 and married in 1972 She was a United fan, but eventually saw the light. We now live at 4 Heapy Close in Bury and have three grown up children and a dog . However, our first grandchild Joe arrived on 21st Oct.2005 to brighten up all our lives. MARIE POTTER was born on 20th August 1951 and lived in Salisbury Road, Eccles. She was a leggy brunette uncannily like Ally McGraw. Both Ally and me have suffered the ravages of time but Marie drank the elixir. Apart from the family she is keen on the Lake District, Italy and France. Marie is an avid reader but also a sleep machine. She is interested in all things medical and also home and garden. Whilst the children were growing up she was passionate about their education . During this time she herself spent many evenings at night school and eventually went full time to Manchester Polytechnic and gained a B.Sc. In 1988 she joined Victoria Foods as a Development Technologist but switched to pharmaceuticals at Astra for the launch of Losec in 1990. She has been a medical rep since then and has worked also for Knoll, Jansen-Cilag, Novartis and now Johnson&Johnson . Marie's mum, May, lives with Marie's brother Brian at 3 Trident Rd in Eccles. EMMA is 31 and married in 2003 in the Lake District (see photo) to Ray Emery from Salford and they are newly proud parents of Joseph James.. She obtained a law degree at Newcastle University and a LL.B at York University. Emma is now an associate solicitor with Pannone and Partners in Manchester. City fan ! Ray has two lovely children, Beth 14 and Nathan 10, with whom they spend alternate weekends . Not forgetting Molly, a nutty chocolate brown labrador who destroyed my Maine Rd turf ! PHIL is 30 and single but has a lovely Japanes girlfriend called Asumi. He obtained a chemistry degree at Birmingham University and a masters in international business at UMIST . He then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte &Touche. He is now an investment banker in London with J.P. Morgan where he works on hybrid derivatives ( what's that ? ). City fan ! Known to like the odd drink and is rather absent minded . Reputed to be on his 20th mobile phone over the past 4 years . Famously drugged and mugged within a couple of hours after arriving in Bangkok some years back. PAUL is 26 and single . After a 2 year apprenticeship with Oldham Athletic FC in 1998 he won a soccer scholarship to an American college and spent 4 years on a beautiful campus in Rome, Georgia where he graduated with a B.A. and achieved All-American Soccer Athlete. After a spell in Rome , Italy he returned to the US and is now coaching with United Soccer Academy in NJ. City fan ! I Marie and I share a love of the family, City, the Lake District. We both read a lot and have a similar taste in music and theatre. We also adore France and Italy and hope to spend more time there in our retirement and this will happen in 2006. |
