This site last updated 10/15/99. Check back occasionally for more info.

This site contains all the pertinent information regarding this certainly different group. In fact, that's almost everyone's comments when they here us: "it's different."

Before you ask, the blue font is used as a tribute to their first offical (and only fully completed) album, The Blue Revolution.

This page has several bookmarks to allow "easier" navigation, as you peruse this plethora of information.

Site breakdown:

  1. Who are the Crazed Anarchists?
  2. What can you tell me about the guy over at the right. Also, why is there a pi symbol on the building?
  3. What is that groovy music in the background?

Who are the Crazed Anarchists?

The Crazed Anarchists are as follows:

Left to Right:  Aaron Smith, Jeffrey Secrest, and Jeffrey Allen

"Secrest" was certainly the creative driving force behind the group and was the only one brave enough to sing into a microphone. Nearly every recorded Crazed Anarchist tune was a Secrest composition. Smithman was the most musically talented of the group (he had more talent than both Jeff's combined and multiplied by 6.8!). He's the musician you'll hear playing for all of the "early" stuff. Jeffrey Allen (no cool nickname for him) was the man-behind-the-scenes, if you will. He did recording, editing and mixing of the albums, and put together the first cassette insert, including the reprinting of the lyrics.

No one in the group was more important than the other two, much like the Doors were. While Secrest was the "man up front," he needed someone to play music and tape it! Likewise, Smithman needed lyrics, and Jeff A. knew his place in the band. All three contributed to the effort, and when they got together, there was a magic that eminated from Smithman's bedroom (the "recording studio").

The Crazed Anarchist Guy Explained

As the first album began to take shape, the group realized that they needed something for the album cover. Secrest had drawn a little bomber guy, and Jeff A. was pretty impressed. So, it was to become the album cover for the first album. After all, every good album needs a cool cover (ie Sgt. Pepper's, Dark Side of the Moon, and so forth). Secrest and good friend Dan Suttles took the time to draw the image into paintbrush (back in 1992, long before most people could afford scanners). The image has been kept and preserved all these years!

Initially, the album cover had the word "trig" written across the top right of the picture. The original bomber guy was drawn on Secrest's trigonometry folder (for Mr. Martin's class), and Jeff A. thought it'd be cool to keep it. The pi was later added in honor of the Smithman, who at one time had pi memorized out to several (ie 50 or more) places.

That Groovy Music: Dusty Burton’s day with the group

The music in the background is from the one day session with Smithman’s good friend, Dusty Burton.  He played guitar on “The Crazed Anarchist” track, and also played electric guitar on a version of “Alternate Reality” that also featured Smithman on acoustic guitar.  The track you keep hearing is his intro to “The Crazed Anarchist.”

When will this site be updated next?

It's hard to say. Jeff A. is the "self-appointed" keeper of the flame, and he's a busy man! He'll try like the dickens to update it every week or so, just depends on how much stuff is going on a school and so forth. In the meantime, you can always email him at [email protected].
