SPANISH SUBJECT PRONOUN CHART
Below is a list of the subject pronouns in the Spanish
language. It will help determine verb
forms when conjugating.
1st person singular (1PS) = I = yo
2nd person singular (2PS) = you
(familiar) = tú
3rd person singular (3PS) = you (formal) = Usted (Ud.)
he = él
she = ella
a
sing. noun = cat, dog, hat, man, girl, class...
(except
yo or tú)
it = there is no word for “it” when it is
used
as a noun; it is just understood
1st person plural (1PP) = we = nosotros or nosotras *(based on gender)
2nd person plural (2PP) = you all (familar) = vosotros or vosotras *(based on gender
and
not
used regularly. The formal “you all” is
used
almost all the time.)
3rd person plural (3PP) = you all (formal) = Ustedes (Uds.)
= they = ellos or ellas *(based on gender)
= any plural noun = cats, dogs, hats, men, girls,
classes...

or vosotros/as)
*In situations where a subject pronoun is chosen based
on gender, use the male gender option for all male groups or groups containing
males and females. Use the female
gender option for groups containing only females.
