Episode List

I remember watching Bob Ross on PBS during the 80s, and thinking it can't be that easy. I would watch Bob start off with a blob of paint and produce a fabulous painting. And every week, as he finished the painting, I would say, "That looks pretty good, Bob. . . NO! What are you doing? It was great without that tree! Oh. Well, you're right, that looks much better."

I was devastated when Bob died in 1995. My Saturdays suddenly became empty and drab.

I consider myself more of a cartoonist than an artist. I have been cartooning my entire life. Late in 2006, I decided to try painting and looked up my old friend and took the plunge. So far, as I write this in early 2007, I have produced over 30 paintings--most copies from the show--and find myself with a new passion: Painting!

Original Work

After months of searching the Internet, I found that no one had a comprehensive episode guide online. So I started working on one. I wanted a list of paintings produced in each series with a small photo of each to decide if I wanted to try and paint it myself.

Copyright laws being what they are, I cannot reproduce any of Bob's paintings in my episode list. I can, however, post my versions. I also cannot post any pictures of my friend, because Bob Ross Inc owns the copyright to his likeness. As soon as I finish it, I will post a cartoon of Bob Ross done in my own style. It will be my tribute to Bob.

The episode list contains the painting names, and if the instructions are reproduced in any of the three Joy of Painting compilation books, and a picture of my interpretation of the painting, where available. I cannot emphasize enough that you should buy the DVDs from Bob Ross Inc to watch Bob paint. Once you understand the technique, you can paint anything!

If you have painted a version of a Bob Ross painting and would like to see it here, drop me an email with a photo, and I will add it to the site, and add a link to your site. If you have episode listings you would like to contribute, I would happily add them to the list. If you're a certified instructor and would like a link, let me know.

I hope the episode list will help you explore the world of Bob Ross, and inspire you to experience The Joy of Painting!
