What Can I Do About My "Restrictive" AFM?
Many people have come up come to the conclusion that they could gain more power from their RX-7 by opening up the intake.  For whatever reason, often the factory AFM becomes the focus of their effort.  So the question becomes, what gains would there be by replacing the stock AFM?

There is no real need to go to a larger air-flow sensor to increase flow capacity...   Pg. 7-16

L-Jetronic systems at high RPM are limited more by avaliable injection pulse time than by air flow restriction.  Only a highly modified engine would stand any chance of benefiting from larger intake air-flow componenets.  ..there are other more important considerations.  Pg. 7-17

In other words these quotes confirm the sentiments of many in the RX-7 community who have maintained that the S4 air flow meter isn't really a restrcition worth mentioning until you have an engine producing power far beyond what the stock injectors are capable of.  99.99%+ of owners with an n/a 13B will never modify their car to that point.
