You look over the statues. They're perfectly normal. Why imagine
that's not true? Even though you're in an admittedly strange place,
you don't assume that the trees are ents, for instance. If the
statues are normal in every way that you can tell, then why question
that? Seriously, what is the purpose of your senses if you are
forever skeptical of them? You can't live your life like that.
That's paranoia. At the same time, you have to take into account
the possibility that they are not normal statues. You saw the
faeries and the stentor, so it's been proven that the supernatural
exists. Therefore, since that has been proven, and since it's been
proven that in this place things aren't necessarily what they seem,
you have to take into account the possibility that these are not
normal statues. Even if they are probably normal statues, you have
to take into account the possibility that they are not. What therefore
do you do? If you knew for a fact that these were extremely dangerous
magical statues that would probably kill you, you would probably
turn around and go home. To actually give up on your quest just
because you saw some statues that turned out to be perfectly normal
would be laughable. You should probably just walk around them. You
hesistate because what if these were magical statues that would
kill you if you tried to do that? You wish there was some way you
could find out if they are dangerous or not. You can't think of a
way to find out without putting your life at risk. If you went up
and touched one, and it didn't react, could you be certain that it
was normal? If it did react, it might kill you. If there was only
some way you could do something where if it wasn't normal it would
definitely react, and the reaction probably wouldn't harm you.
Then something occurs to you. What if you were to throw a rock at
one of them? You could throw it from off to the side, behind other
statues, so it couldn't easily throw its spear at you. If it were to
react, it would probably react to that. If it were to throw its
spear at you, you could hide behind other statues, and it would
at least give you time to make a break for it. Then again, maybe
it would kill you after all. If you were running away, it could
put a spear through your back. Maybe all of them would attack you
simultaneously. Do you try throwing a rock at one of the statues?
Yes or no?
