We have been selling and repairing window air conditioners since 1969. We specialize in sales of used, reconditioned room units. We repair all makes and models of room units and give FAST ONE DAY SERVICE.
SERVICE:Dudley Hartz is the Service Manager and with 36 years of experience specifically in room units, he is now the most experienced and knowledgeable room unit technician in the South. We are able to give you a complete estimate on your repairs usually within 30 minutes and repairs can usually be finished in one day after your authorization. We only charge $10 for a complete check-up and estimate on your unit and if the repairs are made we do not charge any estimate fee.
SALES: Sue Hartz is the Sales Manager and with 36 years of experience in room unit sales she can advise you on the very best unit for your application. Knowing the correct size of unit to use in our humid climate for your specific application is our specialty. National room unit charts designed for use all over the country do not apply to our area due to our unique weather conditions. We usually have over 100 reconditioned units available for sale in various makes and sizes.
USED AIR CONDITIONER PRICES: We have about 40 units currently for sale from $59 up. We will have all our units listed soon on a price page.

REFRIGERATORS AND BEVERAGE BOXES: We currently have a large supply of good NEW scratch and dent undercounter and tabletop refrigerators and small wine coolers and glass door beverage coolers. These units have a few small scratches or dents and are selling for up to half off the regular price. Most can be touched up with a can of spray paint to look like new. Prices start at $39.
PARTS: We have an inventory of new parts for many room air conditioners and a very
large inventory of good USED parts for most units at a substantial savings over new parts. We
have a large supply of old and hard-to-find parts for all makes and models of room air
conditioners
REFRIGERATOR PARTS: We are closing out all of our refrigerator parts and the ones we have left in stock are being sold for 50% off of retail price. If any dealer wants to purchase our entire inventory of refrigerator parts we will liquidate them at a small fraction of their original cost.
SAVINGS: Our prices are substantially lower than all the national chains and room units
brought to our shop for repairs are repaired for half the price you would pay a national chain for
home service on your air conditioner.
DEPENDABILITY: Our record for fast dependable service is unmatched in the New
Orleans area. We have had fewer complaints and more satisfied customers than any of our
competitors. Our reconditioned window air conditioners have out performed new units in
percentages of warranty claims over the last 35 years.
RECONDITIONED UNITS:Jefferson Refrigeration is well known in the New Orleans area for the high quality of their reconditioned window air conditioners. Thousands of them have been sold in the last 36 years and it is well known that these are the finest used units available from any dealer in the south. Each unit is thoroughly checked out and all needed repairs are done and the unit is cleaned and painted and sold with a new filter and a parts and labor warranty.
NEW SCRATCH & DENT UNITS: Jefferson Refrigeration has just purchased a
large supply of NEW units that were returned to the sellers for scratches and dents and other
minor problems. Many of these units have never even been plugged in and they have been
carefully tested by us to insure that they are all in perfect working condition. These units are now
priced to sell at substantial savings off of their original prices. You can save $200 off the cost of
a large window unit if you are able to live with a few scratches on the outside of the unit.PRICES
WARRANTY WORK:Are you tired of having the serviceman taking new paying jobs and putting your unit on the side until he has no other paid repairs to perform before he starts on your unit which has to be repaired under warranty. At Jefferson Refrigeration we put all warranty work FIRST ahead of all new repairs because we figure that the customer with the warranty job was our first customer and should not have to wait for repairs any longer than necessary. We know many service shops in the New Orleans area that will make a customer with a bad compressor under warranty wait for 4 to 8 weeks for repairs. We have NEVER made a customer wait for more than ONE WORKING DAY for repairs under warranty.
AIR CONDITIONER CLEANING:
Regular cleaning of your air conditioner when necessary is the very most important thing you can do to maintain high efficiency and long life of your unit. Frequently, the cost of cleaning is paid for by the lower cost of your electric bill the first month after cleaning. Our regular price for cleaning units brought to our shop is $25. A few special units that must be partially disassembled to clean properly are slightly more. We clean the unit, oil the fan motor and check operation and performance of your unit for this low price. If your unit is brought to us in the morning we can usually have it ready that evening.
RECHARGE WITH FREON: We charge $29.50 to check your unit and to recharge it with freon. Repairs of leaks or other repairs are additional.
DISCOUNTS: On used air conditioners priced over $139 we give a $20 discount if the customer wants to purchase it without the warranty. This is useful for a purchaser who lives out of town and might want to bring it to a local shop for service if necessary or for a purchaser who knows how to repair their own units or for a dealer who wishes to resell the unit to their customer and handle the repairs themself. If anyone purchases 3 or more units at one time we give an additional discount. None of our repair jobs are discounted more than our already low discount repair price because we already charge the lowest possible price to everyone.
