I read in a book (on a page of advice about how to improve accuracy of writing Graffiti characters) that the best advice the author could give was to cover one's graffiti writing pad with one of these two kinds of tape. The Scotch Satin tape (shown on the left) creates a silky-smooth feel that was very interesting to me. It seemed to improve the accuracy of my graffiti characters significantly (I would say that my error rate reduced from around )20% to around 15%. I found this type of tape at the Wal-Mart on Perkins road. The tape shown on the right, Scotch 811 tape (also called "Magic Tape"), has a very different effect. This tape has threads that densely criss-cross inside it, resulting in a rough feel. The roughness creates a constant vibration that I can feel when making even the tiniest writing movement with my stylus. These vibrations have a very interesting effect of making me aware of exactly how I am writing graffiti characters. The effect is very similar to the effect caused by software that draws an image of chracters one is writing. I would say that this tape reduced my error rate from around 20% to around 12%. |
