Animals at a used-car dealership
taken in Summer of 2000
One day this summer a friend of mine phoned me and asked me to give him a ride to a used car dealership located around ten miles from the apartment complex he and I live in.
When we arrived at the dealership I discovered that the owner likes to keep many animals on the premises.  In addition to these three fantastically colored birds, there was a large dog chained to the back fence (I think it was a "Mastiff"), and around eight cats.
The cage shown in these two photos was inside a trailer used to house the dealership's office.
Some cats
The big cat is a mother with teats.  I was trying to obtain a photo that would show her nursing all four of her kittens.  However, she was so friendly that it was impossible for me to come within tenfeet of her without her immediately approaching me so as to rub up against my legs!  In order to take this photo I was forced to walk backwards, repeatedly, until I managed to frustrate the big cat so much that she stood still for about five seconds (this enabled one of the kittens to catch up to her and try to resume suckling, as shown in the photo).
Incidentally, the kitten attached to the mother is one of those types of cats that is born with a short and stubby tail.
