A msiquoting by O'Neill of Tour of Duty, alledging Officer incompetence to Kerry
p. 58
This is a significant misquoting of Tour of Duty.  This misquoting is obviously intended to make Kerry appear to have been an incompetent Swift Boat Skipper.  On page 58 of Unfit for Command O'Neill says,
In Tour of Duty, Kerry, according to one of his own accounts, appears to have lost control of his boat after crazily ordering that "warning shots" be fired at a small sampan with heavy .50 caliber weapons, instead of the numerous small caliber weapons on board.
O'Neill gave no page number, so, I was forced to again use the software of the www.amazon.com site to find where the book says anything about "warning shots".
     The sentence in all of
Tour of Duty that has either the plural or singular forms of this phrase is this one on page 269:
I told the gunner to fire a few warning shots and in the confusion all the guns opened up.
