A holster for handhelds sold at Lowe's
photo by Jeff Opal, taken in February of 2003
When I first saw one, I was very tempted to buy one of these interesting holsters.  I recall that the price was around $25.
One of the packages was opened, so I took the opportunity to examine the holster directly The photo shows my Palm IIIxe inside the holster.  It is too tight a fit for this particular handheld in my opinion.
The holster elastically-stretches to snuggly hold the handheld.  I think it would suggly hold any handheld with width and depth totalling to make a sum in the range of 6.5 to 8.7 cm.  For a IIIxe this sum is 9.5  (a IIIxe is 8 cm wide by 1.5 cm deep).
Both the "lid" and the "strap" part (that goes around a belt and snap-joins to the bottom-back of the holster) shown in the photo consist of a flexible solid material that is covered with a sturdy type of fabric.
The material inside bends easily, yet firmly remains in the shape it is bent into.  As shown in the photo the "lid" will hold straight out after it has been bent that way, which I did before I took this photo.
BTW, a second photo I took, of it in the package and on the display-rack, didn't show the brand name of the holster clearly enough to be able to read it.  If it were not for that I would be able to give the brand name here.
