GHB (Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid) was created and used for muscle growth by body builders. Now it is a recreational drug used at parties and clubs. GHB is often mixed with other dugs like Ecstasy.
GHB is made from a chemical used to clean circuit boards. It comes in a clear liquid, tablet, and white powder. After ingestied it takes from 5 to 10 minutes for the chemical to take effect, lasting up to four hours.
GHB was banned by the Food and Drug Administration in 1990 because of the 57 reported illnesses linked to GHB.
